Crystal Alpha

Alpha has short cooldowns, enormous base damage, and high crystal ratios — making her a fantastic hero to build the classic Aftershock + Broken Myth combo on. Stick to your foes with extended initiations through Prime Directive. Alpha is best played in the jungle.

Start with Alpha’s B, Core Charge, to clear jungle creatures quickly. Then, overdrive Prime Directive for the bonus damage and increased range to lock down fleeing prey. Max out Termination Protocol for the immense damage increase and to have her reboot stage ready more often.

Core Items

aftershockbroken-myth

Rush Aftershock for the early game burst damage it provides, coinciding with Alpha’s short cooldowns (specifically Core Charge). Broken Myth increases Aftershock’s proc damage with raw crystal power and pierce to negate shield built by enemies. Dragon’s Eye amplifies this damage over the course of the fight, retaining Alpha’s power level throughout the match.

Shatterglass may be considered as a replacement to Broken Myth for its massive raw crystal power if the enemy is not building much defense. Clockwork is a reliable choice against ranged heroes, which do not allow Alpha to easily garner stacks from Dragon’s Eye, due to her reboot duration scaling with cooldown. Aegis protects Alpha from crystal carries and can block incoming crowd control (slows, stuns, etc.) to allow Termination Protocol to damage her desired target. Atlas Pauldron is effective against Glaive, Idris, Krul, SAW and other heroes that rely on high attack speed, while Metal Jacket is more effective against heavy-hitting weapon carries like Baron and Kestrel. Journey Boots are a fit choice to keep Alpha stuck to her target.

Weapon Alpha

Gap-closers, basic-attack resets, and a kit with lifesteal allow Alpha to mercilessly chase targets when building weapon items. Utilizing these pre-programmed assets, focus on defenses and survivability to inflict your damage over time during the fight. Alpha is best played in the jungle.

Start with Alpha’s B, Core Charge, to clear jungle creatures quickly. Take its overdrive for increased damage, higher lifesteal scaling, and quicker basic attack resets. Overdriving Prime Directive next allows for longer initiations and ensured lockdown onto fleeing enemies. Against double melee hero team compositions, some WP Alpha players may opt for the third point in Termination Protocol to ready her reboot more often.

Core Items

Start with Swift Shooter for faster jungle clear, then invest into light defenses early on. Rush Breaking Point afterward for attack speed and weapon damage, which synergize with Core Charge’s stacks. Poisoned Shiv provides Alpha additional lifesteal, attack speed, and weapon damage to last longer in fights. Round this off with Sorrowblade to continue ramping up in power during the fight.

As Needed

bonesaw

Bonesaw may be considered instead of Poisoned Shiv or Sorrowblade if the enemy begins to invest into armor early on. Tornado Trigger provides critical chance, which bursts down squishy carries like Celeste, Gwen, and Skaarf; also an option to replace the aforementioned items. Aegis builds from the earlier shield to negate crystal damage and block incoming crowd control (stuns, slows, etc.).
