The Dead Man’s Revenge

This build for Krul arose following the 1.12 patch where his huge late-game power spike was redistributed so his overall power curve was smoother. Because of this, Krul now has more lifesteal at lower levels and can leverage it to have a slightly stronger early-game. This Sorrowblade build gives Krul better upfront damage than the traditional Breaking Point build. Krul is usually best played in jungle.

Krul should start out with a point in Spectral Smite for the effects of the Weakness debuff. At level 2, put a point into Dead Man’s Rush for a gap closer and small barrier. With this build, you’ll want to max out Spectral Smite as soon as possible to maximize the enormous damage that the skill deals. After that, max out Dead Man’s Rush to further increase the barrier on it for maximum sustain.

Core Items

bonesawshiversteel

Start Krul off with a Swift Shooter, and start building a Shiversteel to stick to your enemies more effectively. After completing your Shiversteel, build a Bonesaw to add a little more damage to your auto-attacks.

If you need additional damage, you should go towards a Sorrowblade. Otherwise, build additional utility and defensive items; choices include Fountain of Renewal for a team heal as well as some shield, Aegis for a Reflex Block and more shield, Atlas Pauldron to counter high attack speed carries, Crucible for health and a team Reflex Block, and Metal Jacket for heaps of armor.

The Cold Shadow

Krul has received several buffs to make a Crystal Power path viable for him. CP increases the barrier and the barrier duration on Dead Man’s Rush as well as burst heal and damage on Spectral Smite. This build is geared towards a sustain-heavy and defensive playstyle that is complemented by massive damage on Spectral Smite to shut down carries. CP Krul is much less common than WP Krul.

There is nothing different from above!

Core Items

alternating-currentshiversteelaftershock

Start off with an Alternating Current for the attack speed and crystal power. Then, build Shiversteel to increase your stickiness onto the enemy carry and health. After Shiversteel is complete, you’ll want to invest into Aftershock for the cooldown, crystal power, and effectiveness against the enemy tank.

As Needed

Journey Boots combined with Shiversteel and Krul’s heroic perk make it very hard for enemies to escape Krul. Broken Myth is a great choice on Krul since he tends to last long in fights. Consider picking up Shatterglass instead of Broken Myth if you want raw crystal power without having to build stacks. There’s many defense options – build what you need.
