The Polearm

Lance easily has the most crowd-control and peel compared to other heroes. This allows for him to play a mean roam while still dealing quite a bit of damage. This build is meant for Lance’s roam path.

Starting with Lance’s A, Impale, allows for a quick Level 1 rotation, and adds some heavy burst to your first fight. Overdrive his A first for the maximum damage potential and a 100% reset on Combat Roll when successfully landed. Then, overdrive his B, Gythian Wall, to remove debuffs when active.

Core Items

Build 2 Weapon Blades to start off to ensure you win your early fights. Then, rush Fountain of Renewal as any other roam should for the shield, health, and team-wide healing. Crucible is a great item on Lance to help him absorb even more damage.

War Treads are typical to build on supports. Build your double Weapon Blades into a Sorrowblade later in the match. Bonesaw can be picked up if the enemy has invested into armor. Tyrant’s Monocle is a great choice for extra damage if needed. Consider purchasing an Atlas Pauldron if you’re against a hero that relies on attack speed such as SAW, Ringo, or Krul.

Red Lance

Although Lance is recommended to play in the roam position, he can be a very powerful weapon power carry due his ratios. With the right build, you’re bound to control the fold. This build can be played in the lane and jungle, but is best in the jungle.

There is nothing different from Roam Lance!

Core Items

sorrowbladebonesawtyrants-monocle

Rush Sorrowblade as your first item to deal the most amount of weapon damage as possible. After that, Bonesaw is a great item to significantly reduce the effectiveness of enemy armor; as a bonus, you also receive a sufficient amount of attack speed. Tyrant’s Monocle synergizes well with Lance’s kit due to crits impacting all targets he basic attacks.

As Needed

Journey Boots give Lance the movement speed he needs. Tension Bow can be built as your first item if you have a huge gold lead, but should be avoided otherwise. Keep in mind it doesn’t do well in the late game. Some Lance players like to build Double Tyrant’s Monocle instead of an extra defensive item. Defense is obvious – build what you need.
