You’ll find the best and most popular builds for SAW on this page! For more information regarding situational items, check out our guides for situational items on roams and carries! To see how well this hero performs in the current meta, check out our hero tier list.

The Shredder

SAW is a strong hero because of his heroic perk, which gives him fantastic damage in fights while spun-up, but also completely neuters his movespeed. This build strives to take advantage of his attack speed. SAW is best played in lane.

Weapon Power SAW will usually max out Suppressing Fire to increase its base damage. This allows the slow-moving SAW to finish off fleeing enemies with a long-ranged ability. Mad Cannon is usually maxed over Roadie Run because it gives SAW more missing health % ratios without compromising his spin-up stacks.

Core Items

SAW should start off with building up raw Weapon Power – this synergizes well with high stacks of spin-up – so you’ll want to rush a Sorrowblade, with perhaps a Book of Eulogies built first or early for some sustain in lane. Serpent Mask should be built next for the immense lifesteal, and Breaking Point is a great third item because SAW’s high attack speed allows him to stack up very quickly. You can also build Serpent Mask before Sorrowblade – this is up to personal preference.

Because of how immobile SAW is, he’s extremely vulnerable in teamfights. It is therefore extremely important for him to have a lot of defense to be able to stay alive and be an actual factor in fights. SAW’s fast attack speed allows him to proc crits very often, so crit is usually a good stat for SAW to build.

The Executioner

SAW has pretty big CP ratios all over his kit. This build takes advantage of SAW’s CP ratios to dish out huge damage with his skills. CP SAW’s end-of-fight damage is incredible with the additional damage bonuses on his skills from missing health. As mentioned above, SAW is most effective in lane.

This build takes advantage of SAW’s large CP ratios and missing health % ratios. The missing health % ratios increase with each level on Roadie Run and Mad Cannon, so these should be maxed. Suppressing Fire really only gets increases in base damage, which are overshadowed by the CP ratio on it and benefits in the other skills.

Core Items

shatterglassbroken-mythclockwork

Shatterglass adds huge damage to CP SAW’s skills, and more damage is pretty dang awesome. Broken Myth amplifies the fairly large base damage of his skills, and Clockwork reduces the cooldown on them.

As Needed

Boots and defense are important, as always. Additional CP can be built with Shatterglass. Eve of Harvest can be built to give SAW more sustain in the form of lifesteal, and it can replace Clockwork if you don’t feel like the cooldown speed is doing much for you. Consider purchasing Aftershock if you need more cooldown while still maintaining your burst damage.
