Win the Fortress Reindoge skin! Are you nerd enough?

Fortress skin contest 500w-min

Happy Holidays! To celebrate the 1.12 update, Reindoge Fortress, and the new hero Kestrel, the folks here at BrokenMyth wanted to do a giveaway! One lucky reader will win the new Gift-Wrapped Fortress skin! (1799 ICE). Read on to find out how to win this OP skin.

We aren’t just going to GIVE it away. In BrokenMyth style, we’ve come up with a question we think is sufficiently challenging to our readers. First, you must provide the correct answer AND show your mathz. We will select a winner at random from the correct entires. That lucky person will win the limited edition Gift-Wrapped Fortress skin! The submissions will be accepted starting from now through Thursday, December 17th at 5PM PST. We’ll announce the winner on Friday, December 18th! Without further ado, here is the question:

Kestrel is level 12 and has a Sorrowblade, a Tension Bow, and a Tyrant’s MonocleShe’s shooting a rank 5 Glimmershot at a Level 12 Ringo with a Coat of PlatesAssuming she has been out of combat for ten seconds, and gets a critical strike with her Glimmershot, how much damage does the single arrow do? (rounding is okay, to the nearest integer)

longer than spitfire

Not sure where to start? Check out BlueBadger’s awesome guide on how damage works.

p.s. the answer is not 124 😉

Everyone is going to do the same thing, basically use the formula to plug in numbers.
Anyone who has Kestrel also has an advantage…
If you are going to select among the winners, would you select for creativity in figuring out the problem?

Just a quick question. Do you mean the shot at the very max range, or a regular shot, cuz the VERY max range and the regular shot do a giant difference of damage.

What if you don’t have Fortress?

The skin will still be unlocked, for when you do eventually get Fortress. (IF you win)

    Hiya Keldegar!

I have discovered a truly marvellous proof of this, which this margin is too small to contain!

I’ve got an answer *and* a spreadsheet…or do you want me to translate my .xls file into plainspeak?

Wait in the game it says ringo at lv 12 has 86 armor but in the vgfire site it says he has 26 armor. WHAT DO I TRUST? 🙁

VGFire is the first place to not use — because it’s outdated. You should always trust the in-game statistics instead.

      20(+6) doesn’t mean 26, you know.

the +6 is the amount gained per level. 20 is the starting value at level 1. The rest is left as an exercise for the reader.

Hey, that math prob just made me register here. Unfortunately the answer I sent first is incorrect, but right after I’d sent a correct one (with explanation what was wrong in first one). Will my second (correct) maths count, or the first one have already sealed my fate?

Nice, ‘cuz I resubmitted like 5 minutes after first submit. However, I used values from VGFire, not from the game itself.
